Disclosing Motor Vehicle Information Consultation

DISCUSSION PAPER ON A PROPOSED REGULATION UNDER
THE BUSINESS PRACTICES AMENDMENT ACT
(DISCLOSING MOTOR VEHICLE INFORMATION)
INTRODUCTION
The Government of Manitoba recognizes that for most consumers the purchase of a vehicle is a very significant transaction. Buying or leasing a new or used vehicle is a costly decision, regardless of whether the consumer pays for the vehicle up-front, or whether they assume an on-going obligation to finance or lease the unit. Not only does the consumer have the financial obligation that comes with ownership, but they also take on other responsibilities such as the cost of maintenance and repairs. In addition to these financial commitments, undisclosed or unknown problems (current or in the past) may affect the use or value of the vehicle.
